Who is Thirty Plus One membership for?
Membership is for independent music artist managers and self-managed artists who are serious enough about taking the next step in their careers to invest time and resource into it.
How does it work?
We’re a membership club. We research and test services that focus on strengthening the management function and supporting and promoting the artist. These include things like legal advice for contracts, accountants for your accounts, industry contacts, rehearsal space and shared office space. We use the numbers we have in membership to negotiate discounted deals with selected service providers. This means that our membership get access to the best in the business, but still only pay rates through monthly membership that are reasonable.
Membership subscription will cover all key services so members will access basic legal advice and accountancy services, for example, at no extra cost. What is included is constantly being expanded and reviewed, so the most current details will always be on the website.
As music managers ourselves we understand that music industry success depends on the opportunities you can access, and that is a lot about who you know. By joining our club you join our community and each member brings skills, experience or expertise that they are ready to share. It means that you have a network of people in the same field that you can tap into through structured methods such as organised events, and informally too as part of online groups that are exclusive to members.
What are the benefits of joining for me?
You get to access services from the best providers in the business at a discounted rate through your Thirty Plus One membership subscription. You also get exclusive access to our growing community of music professionals.
There are discounts and offers for free community subscribers, but paid members will receive full club benefits and access to services included at no extra costs.
What am I expected to contribute?
Well, once you join, you are team Thirty Plus One so like any good team we work together and support each other. You may already have an idea about what you can offer to support other members, but if you do not then that is fine too. At the registration stage we jointly identify what you can bring to the group – this may be years of experience in the industry, access to a showcase you run, organisation skills or ideas for improvement.
Like in life, the more you give, the more you’ll get here. At registration we will also identify some key areas for your development and progression and seek to connect you with other managers or artists who can help.
Couldn’t I just do all this myself?
Well, yes you could look for an accountant, a legal firm, branding designers and other professional to work with by yourself. However, in our experience we have found that feeling around in the dark for professional services uses up a lot of time and money, and these are two things that an independent manager or a self-managed artist does not have to waste. There is so much out there that knowing where to start is a big task in itself; what’s more, when you do find the best they normally cost a fair amount.
Thirty Plus One membership takes the hassle and risk out of finding people to work with. We know where to start and the providers we use are high quality and recommended. What’s more, because we are not just negotiating for ourselves but on behalf of our membership we are able to get better deals for individuals. So independents can finally afford to access the same professional help as signed artists and big management companies. As if that wasn’t enough on its own, you also become part of a network of music professionals that has an unquantifiable benefit to creating development possibilities.
Who provides all the services offered?
These are provided by some of the best in the industry. All tried, tested and recommended by us before being offered to the wider membership.
We will always be looking for the best arrangements so these will be continually improved.
The most current details will always be available on the website.
What is the application process? Will I get in?
Because Thirty Plus One members are a collective it’s important that we have the right mix of people involved. Membership only really works for managers and artists that are ready to invest in the next stage of their development. We use the application process to identify this and to make sure also that Thirty Plus One can meet your needs so it’s a win/win all round. You complete the application form online and then we have a conversation. It is not something you have to worry about. To qualify you must first be a music manager or a self-managed artist – if you tick that box then you should apply and we’ll have a chat.
Does everyone get accepted?
We contact everyone that applies. If membership will work to benefit both you and us then you are in.
How much does it cost?
Currently there is a free subscription and two paid membership plans.
By subscribing for free our community members get access to news, discounts, free resources and some events.
